Nominacije za 3. Zmaja DragonCona

Z začetkom avgusta se je odprlo glasovanje za najprestižnejšo nagrado na področju znanstvene fantastike in fantazije. Za razliko od ostalih nagrad, kjer odločajo elite, o izbiri zmagovalca Zmaja odloča glas ljudstva in samo glas ljudstva.

Prve Zmaje so podelili na multimedijski konvenciji DragonCon leta 2016. Namen za ustanovitvijo “še ene” nagrade je bil, da pridejo do priznanja tudi bolj popularna dela, ki se redko pojavljajo med nominiranci za Hugote in Nebule. Med preteklimi zmagovalci so tako zdaj že pokojni Terry Pratchett, Nick Cole, Neil Gaiman, John C. Wright in Larry Correia.

Nekateri bi rekli, da gre s tem za zgolj zelo veliko tekmovanje v priljubljenosti. Morda res, a vendarle ni nikomur onemogočeno, da ne bi podprl svojega favorita. Priljubljenost omenjene konvencije v Atlanti pa iz leta v leto narašča (lani že preko 80 tisoč obiskovalcev), ravno tako pa število oddanih glasov vsako leto. Leta 2017 so zabeležili 8.000 oddanih glasovnic.
